Hot Pockets 3.0 : The Ulitmate Pool Tournemant
“The hardest skill to acquire in this sport is the one where you compete all out, give it all you have, and you are still getting beat no matter what you do. When you have the killer instinct to fight through that, it is very special.”- Eddie Reese
The 28th of August 2022 was another remarkable day in the calendar of the Rotaract Club of IIT. The Rotaract Club of IIT and the Rotaract Club of Colombo Fort joined together for the 3rd time to organize a singles pool tournament ‘Hot Pockets 3.0’. The tournament was organized to recognize and showcase the talent people have in terms of pool and to build fellowship between rotaractors and non rotaractors. The tournament was held at the Stripes pool parlor from 8:30 am onwards.
More than 60 people registered for this tournament and re-entries were also given if the participants wanted to play again. People who registered were allocated into 12 different groups consisting of 8 participants including the re-entries. After a bunch of fun-filled rounds players started to interact with each other. Every single player maintained good sportsmanship throughout the day which made the games more engaging and entertaining. Thereafter having some tremendous games, the tournament was moving towards the important part of the day.

The final took place against the best two in the tournament. Both the finalists were forced to hold their nerves, after a nail-biting final Jerome emerged as champion defeating Chanuka while Silmi managed to secure third place in the tournament. Tournament winner Jerome received the winner’s cup and a cash prize of 15,000 LKR. Chanuka was awarded 10,000 LKR for becoming the runner-up in the tournament. 2nd runner-up Silmi received 5,000 LKR. The final was streamed live on Facebook.
Finally, ‘Hot Pockets 3.0’ another wonderful physical project that gave opportunities to a tremendously talented crowd came to an end with countless memories to cherish. We, as the Rotaract club of IIT would like to thank everyone who supported us in many ways to make this event a success.
